2005年11月1日より，地方での職業見習い期間に対するビザが発給されることになりました。
- ビザクラス − Sponsored Training (Temporary) (Class UV)
- ビザサブクラス − Subclass 471 Trade Skills Training
申請者の主な条件
- Trade Skills Training visa sponsorとしての許可のあるオーストラリアの会社にスポンサーされる
- 18歳ー35歳
- vocational English
- 職業見習いの関連のある教育，資格，経験がある
- 見習い期間に必要な費用が十分にある
- 保険に加入
- 見習い業務期間の雇用の申し出があり，その申し出に応じる予定である。

審査官用の新しいポリシーで英語の査定基準が変わりました。
11月以降申請する申請者は基本的にIELTSの提出を求めるとのことです。通常12ヶ月未満のものですが，下記の点があてはまると思われる場合は24ヶ月以内。
Applicant sat an IELTS test more than 12 months but less
that 2 years before applying for their visa and attained the
required level of English ability, but the decision makers
is satisfied that the applicant’s English language ability
has not deteriorated since sitting this test as they have
been working full-time in an English speaking country.
また従来の
Applicant holds a degree, diploma or trade qualification from
an academic institution as a result of 2 years full time study
where all instruction has been conducted in English
に当てはまる申請者はVocational English level（IELTS4.5）とみなされることになります。
